Upcoming Skills Workshops

Our chapter is planning many informative workshops to help you add to your technical toolset this semester. Workshops are always free for STC members.

Coming soon: Intro to Flash and Editing Presentations, Documents and Designs.

If you would like to be notified of information on a specific workshop, would like to request a particular topic, or are interested in teaching a workshop in the future, please contact your Chapter Officers at stc@rpi.edu.

So far this semester our Chapter has had the opportunity to host three informative workshops: Beginning and Intermediate Dreamweaver and Advanced Features in MS Word. Many thanks to all of you who attended and helped make each workshop a success!

2002: The Year in Review

Last Fall semester, our chapter hosted several informative sessions for our members and the RPI community. Stay tuned for more activities this Spring!

STC Workshop Series: Dreamweaver
Students from RPI and UAlbany turned out for STC's Dreamweaver Workshop in October. During the 4-hour course, workshop leader Jennifer Bullard taught participants how to use Macromedia Dreamweaver to create enticing and usable websites, as well tips and tricks for using images and text effectively.

STC Speaker Series: Tech Comm Opportunities in a Depressed Job Market
We'd like to thank the guest speakers who led our Fall seminar on conducting an effective job search in the Tech Comm field in today's market. Diana Leis Delker of RPI's Career Development Center spoke about job trends and the current job market outlook; Professor Roger Grice of the Department of Language, Literature and Communication discussed placement of recent graduates in Tech Comm-related fields; and 2001 Technical Communication graduate Ryan Seely shared the story of his job search experience and tips for getting that first job out of school.

Each semester, STC offers speaker events with guests from technical communication, IT and graphics/web fields. Past events have included speakers from IBM, Documentation Strategies and Interactive Media Consulting. If you have suggestions for a future speaker event, please e-mail stc@rpi.edu.
